About the project

GRID Impact is a collective for social change. Their highly experienced independent consultants partner with organizations and communities to co-create equitable, inclusive, and impactful approaches to economic, health and social challenges. I teamed up with GRID Impact for a new brand identity.

Brand Identity

The new GRID Impact logo is clear, straight-forward and thoughtful. The ‘GRID’ letters are created from geometrical shapes on an actual grid – a reference to their rigorous approach at research and design. The grid is also a nod to the grid of a map and how they often work off the beaten paths. The logo can be used in its primary full color version, or in a simple outline.

The color palette is bright and colorful, with a variety of warm and earthy colors. The colors work well together when used in a pattern or illustration, but can also stand on their own when a more sober approach is needed.

Illustrations

GRID Impact developed a methodological approach to their behavioral research and design. We visualized that process in two sets of illustrations – one with a global setting and one with an American setting. All illustrations are based on reference photos of the team at work, making them authentic, inclusive and unique to GRID Impact.

Behavioral Design Cards

Based on their own approach and experience, GRID Impact developed a Behavioral Design Cards deck as an educational tool.

“This card deck is an educational tool intended to help you learn and/or better understand some common cognitive biases, and how one might design for them. It can give you an alternate view into how you might respond to a variety of behavioral challenges you might be facing in your work or personal life.

This deck will not solve problems for you. Rather, it will serve as a thought partner as you consider your decision-makers and investigate the contexts and factors around them that influence, hinder, or encourage their behavior.”
