About the project
SOL Network is a social organization working on behalf of municipalities, social organizations and schools in Rotterdam, Leiden, Maassluis, Vlaardingen, Schiedam en Ridderkerk. By operating on a small scale — with the people in the neighborhood, for the people in the neighborhood — SOL really makes a difference. In 2022 I teamed up with SOL and Cowdev to give the SOL website a fresh look. Our goals were to analyze and clear up the cluttered structure of the site, make it look great on all devices, make it accessible for young and old and ready for years to come.
Visual style
The main focus group for the SOL website are the people in the neighborhoods SOL operates in. Not all of those people have a lot of experience with computers or the internet, and some of them have limited knowledge of the Dutch language. To cater them all we developed a very clean site structure, focussed on the events SOL organizes in the neighborhoods. The design of the pages looks clean and structured, with the bold color palette from the visual identity adding a pop of color. To make sure the color palette is fully accessible I developed a WCAG-proof color palette.
